Best Best & Krieger is proud to sponsor the International Municipal Lawyers Association's (IMLA) 2022 Annual Conference. This 4-day seminar will highlight in-depth topics on issues that municipal attorneys are facing.

A number of BBK partners will be presenting on various key topics at this year’s event: Ellen Grover and Josh Newton will lead a panel about understanding tribal sovereignty and how municipal governments can best work with tribes in their jurisdictions; Christine Wood will discuss the numerous benefits to using E-discovery tools when responding to public records requests; Gene Tanaka and Rebecca Andrews will present on developments in environmental justice, waters of the United States, PFAS, NEPA and climate change; Gerard Lavery Lederer, Gail Karish and Tillman Lay will be covering ways to navigate federal telecommunications policy and funding opportunities.

BBK will also host two WONK table discussions — one will be led by Partner Billy Williams, former U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, and the other will be led by Partner Mary Beth Coburn and Director of Governmental Affairs Ana Schwab. Billy will be sharing insights on effective engagement with assistant U.S. attorneys, division chiefs and staff members who are pursuing legal issues of importance to their local communities. Mary Beth and Ana will provide an overview of the complex legal framework of federal procurement law applicable to federally funded projects.
