Like many reputable law firms, Best Best & Krieger is not immune to individuals attempting to exploit our brand and the identities of our lawyers and staff for fraud. We aim to inform our clients about prevalent frauds through this fraud alert page, though the evolving nature of scams makes complete prevention challenging.

One recent scheme that has come to our attention is the Copyright Infringement Scam. This deceptive tactic involves malicious actors impersonating BBK via email, falsely claiming to represent the copyright owner of an image on your website. They may employ AI-generated lawyer names or even the real names of our attorneys to deceive recipients into compliance. These emails typically include links or attachments purportedly to provide evidence of copyright, which may contain malware.

If you receive such an email and are uncertain of its authenticity, refrain from engaging further and immediately contact an IT security professional to assess potential risks to your system.

We take the misuse of our name and identities seriously and promptly report fraudulent activities to relevant authorities.
