2026 IMLA Mid-Year Seminar
BBK to Sponsor and Present at IMLA’s Premier Municipal Law Conference
Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK) is proud to sponsor and present at the 2026 International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) Mid-Year Seminar in Washington, D.C. As federal telecommunications policy continues to evolve at a rapid pace, BBK’s nationally recognized telecommunications team will lead a timely and critical discussion for local governments navigating the shifting regulatory landscape.
BBK attorneys Gerard Lederer, Tillman Lay, Cheryl Leanza and Brittany Weidner will present, “Telecommunications: Strategies for Local Defense as the Feds Go on Offense Again.” This dynamic session will examine the mounting challenges facing local governments before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and in Congress. The panel will analyze the implications of the FCC’s pending Wireline Notice of Inquiry (NOI) and Wireless Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) proceedings, as well as the potential impact of H.R. 2289.
Attendees will gain practical guidance on proactive steps municipalities can take to protect local authority — including strategic policy responses, process implementation and the importance of funding and supporting litigation where necessary. The discussion will also explore potential judicial remedies, drawing on insights from Lay and Leanza’s Municipal Lawyer article examining the Supreme Court’s decisions in Loper and McLaughlin.
Be sure to stop by BBK’s booth to learn more about BBK and meet with the firm’s telecom team.
