Best Best & Krieger LLP is pleased to announce that Cecilia Martin joined the firm on September 26 as a partner in the Labor & Employment Practice Group. Cecilia will serve her client base from the firm’s Sacramento, California office. Most recently, Cecilia was a Shareholder at Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard, where she practiced labor and employment law.

“We are excited to welcome Cecilia Martin to BBK,” said Joseph Sanchez, who leads the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. “She brings valuable experience representing public and private sector employers and we are thrilled to have her on board.”

Cecilia regularly advises clients on strategies for efficiently and cost-effectively resolving claims involving wage and hour disputes, harassment, disability, discrimination and retaliation. She also provides strategic counsel and support on business and employment issues such as entity formation, partnership disputes, employee classification issues, termination, leave laws and laws affecting payroll and personnel decisions.

Cecilia is also deeply committed to the expansion of diversity and equity in the legal community and has served in both leadership and membership roles in several different organizations to further this goal. One of Cecilia’s most important roles is her service as a mentor to law students and new attorneys.

“My mother instilled in me a commitment to service. In her professional capacity or as a volunteer/board member/director for various non-profit organizations, I grew up watching her advocate for victims of domestic violence, and promote equity and visibility for people of color in the arts.”

Cecilia is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern and Eastern districts of California.
