Best Best & Krieger Partner Cecilia Martin practices as a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment team, representing public and private sector employers and C-suite executives in complex disputes of every size. Cecilia has particular experience advising clients on litigation strategies around claims involving wage and hour disputes, harassment, disability, discrimination and retaliation. She also provides strategic counsel and support on business and employment issues such as entity formation, partnership disputes, employee classification issues, termination, leave laws, and laws affecting payroll and personnel decisions.
With a background in advising employers and management, Cecilia is widely regarded as an adept leader and communicator who creates efficient strategies for day-to-day and long-term employer-employee issues. She works to mitigate risk at every turn and enjoys working collaboratively with in-house counsel and HR leaders. She also has substantial experience providing management-side defense in single-plaintiff claims, class actions and representative claims under the Private Attorney General Act.
Cecilia is deeply committed to the expansion of diversity and equity in the legal community and has served in both leadership and membership roles in several different organizations to further this goal. One of Cecilia’s most important roles is her service as a mentor to law students and new attorneys. Cecilia’s commitment to service is the result of watching her mother advocate for victims of domestic violence and promote equity and the presence of people of color in the arts.
Cecilia is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern and Eastern districts of California.
Outside of her law practice, Cecilia enjoys taking evening bike rides with her family, yoga, and intends to resume re-learning the cello when her baby is a bit older.
