Kurt Barker advises and defends employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters. His experience includes discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, tort claims, non-compete enforcement and trade secret obligations. He represents employers in employment-related disputes and litigation in state and federal courts. Barker also counsels clients on workplace policies and employment issues. He regularly trains managers and employees on topics such as anti-harassment and medical leave. He frequently lectures on employment law topics and has been featured at the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries Annual Conference.

Laura Fowler represents public and private employers in a wide range of labor and employment matters. She defends employers in lawsuits involving wrongful termination, breach of contract, unpaid wages, harassment, failure to accommodate, retaliation and discrimination. Fowler also represents employers in administrative proceedings before agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Labor Commissioner and the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. She advises employers on day-to-day workplace matters, including wage and hour issues, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, discipline and termination decisions. Laura also regularly presents seminars on employment-related topics and has served as a guest lecturer at McGeorge School of Law.

Cecilia Martin represents C-suite executives and public and private sector employers in a wide range of labor and employment matters. She advises clients on litigation strategies involving wage and hour disputes, harassment, disability, discrimination and retaliation claims. Martin also provides strategic counsel on employment and business matters, including employee classification, termination, leave laws, payroll and personnel decisions. She has substantial experience defending employers in single-plaintiff claims, class actions and representative claims under the Private Attorney General Act. Cecilia works closely with in-house counsel and HR leaders to develop practical strategies for managing day-to-day and long-term employment issues.

Joey Sanchez advises public agencies and employers on a broad range of labor and employment matters. His experience includes collective bargaining, employee discipline and termination, family and medical leave laws, wage and hour issues, disability leave and equal employment opportunity laws. He serves as labor counsel and lead labor negotiator for cities, school districts, special districts and other public agencies. Sanchez represents clients in administrative proceedings, grievance arbitrations and mediations, including defending unfair labor practice charges before the Public Employment Relations Board. He also advises clients on personnel policies, labor relations and collective bargaining. Sanchez has significant experience representing public safety agencies, including fire districts and city fire departments, and advises clients on the Peace Officer Bill of Rights and Firefighter Bill of Rights.

Michael Travis focuses his practice on labor and employment matters affecting public agencies. His clients include cities, counties, school districts, community colleges and universities. His work covers personnel decisions, internal investigations, employee relations and administrative hearings. Travis has handled sensitive workplace issues involving discrimination claims, workplace culture concerns and complex employment policies. He has led large-scale harassment and discrimination investigations and handled administrative hearings for law enforcement agencies throughout California. Travis also has significant experience with the Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act and Firefighters Procedural Bill of Rights Act. He provides guidance on workplace standards and best practices and facilitates training for public agency leaders and employees.
