Attorney Stephanie Véniez Contributes Insights on Title II and Section 504 Compliance Tips to Special Ed Connection
Article Addresses Need for Accessibility on High-Traffic School Website Content
Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK) Education Law attorney Stephanie Véniez has been featured in a Special Ed Connection article addressing how school districts can meet upcoming ADA web accessibility (WCAG) requirements. The article follows the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) final rule updating Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
In the article, Véniez focuses on website content, accessible PDFs, captioning, compliance timelines and the risks of noncompliance. She advises districts to hone in on their high-traffic pages such as enrollment portals and parent resources. Véniez also adds that PDFs must be both tagged properly and include searchable text. In addition, all videos and recorded content require captions, and AI generated captions must be checked by humans ahead of publishing.
