Kristine Mollenkopf

Kristine Mollenkopf, of counsel, is a member of Best Best & Krieger LLP’s (BBK) Municipal Law practice. She has nearly 30 years of experience advising government and public agency clients.

Kristine joins BBK from the city attorney’s office in Lincoln, California, where she served for eight years as the city’s first in-house city attorney. In that position, she was responsible for acting as city prosecutor, managing all aspects of municipal law, advising at city council and planning commission and other commission meetings as needed. Kristine served as city counsel to city officials and a broad range of municipal departments, including the city manager's office, fire and police departments, utilities, engineering and public works, economic development, and other city operations. Kristine also oversaw both in-house staff and outside counsel addressing regulatory claims, CEQA, AB 1600, fees/taxes, contracts, personal injury, dangerous conditions of public property, union bargaining/impasse, and advised on Public Records Act requests.

 Before going in-house with the City of Santa Maria, Kristine had 20 years of experience as a litigator representing contractors, developers, cities and special districts.

 Outside of work, Kristine and her husband share a passion for classic cars and are devoted football fans.
