Chad D. Colton

Chad Colton is an attorney in Best Best & Krieger’s (BBK) Environment and Natural Resources practice group, with a special focus on energy law assisting government agencies. Chad has represented Community Choice Aggregators (CAA) including Solana Energy Alliance, the first CCA formed in San Diego County, and helped to form San Diego Community Power. 

Chad also has significant experience in public power feasibility and municipalization, electric and gas utility franchise compliance, government contracting and procurement. He also provides counsel on landfill gas cogeneration, CPUC advocacy, storm water and runoff liability, and wildfire litigation. 

Chad enjoys surfing with his wife and son, fishing, and vegetable gardening.
