Alison K. Toivola
She/Her
Of Counsel Alison Toivola practices water rights, water supply, and natural resources litigation. She focuses on surface and groundwater issues throughout California and Oregon representing public, private, and tribal clients. Alison handles matters involving the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, the Deschutes Basin, hydroelectric, real estate and land use projects, water quality, drafting and revising municipal ordinances and all manner of surface and groundwater rights, transfers, certifications, protests, and litigation. She has extensive experience in both state and federal courts, as well as with trial, appellate, and alternative dispute resolution procedures. Alison leverages her in-house and law firm experiences to provide robust support for all of her clients’ legal needs.
Previously a Director and Senior Counsel at Vail Resorts, Alison handled a portfolio of complex civil litigation, rebuilt the company’s internal investigations function, and provided legal guidance to in-house clients on a wide variety of legal matters. Prior to her time as in-house legal counsel, Alison was an attorney at international law firm of Hogan Lovells providing support to a broad array of additional matters across the country, from California to Delaware and Texas to New York.
During law school, Alison was an Articles Editor for the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. She also interned at the United States Department of Justice, Environmental and Natural Resources Division, and at the Colorado Supreme Court for Justice Gregory J. Hobbs.
Alison is an avid trail runner, mountain biker, and skier, and is passionate about giving back to her Central Oregon community.
