Of Counsel Alison Toivola is a member of Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Environmental Law & Natural Resources group, where she practices litigation with a purposeful emphasis on the environment, natural resources, and water rights. Alison has extensive experience in both state and federal courts across several jurisdictions. Alison leverages her in-house and law firm experiences to provide robust support for all of her clients’ legal needs. 
  
Alison was previously a Director and Senior Counsel at Vail Resorts based in Colorado. While at Vail Resorts, Alison handled a portfolio of complex civil litigation, rebuilt the company’s internal investigations function, and provided legal guidance to in-house clients on a wide variety of legal matters. Alison was an active litigator within Colorado, and also managed cases across the numerous other jurisdictions in which Vail Resorts operated. 
 
Prior to her time as in-house legal counsel, Alison was an attorney at the large international law firm of Hogan Lovells, based in their Denver, Colorado office. While at Hogan Lovells, Alison practiced in the areas of both civil litigation and environmental regulation. Alison maintained an active practice in Colorado, and provided support to a broad array of additional matters across the country, from California to Delaware, Texas to New York.

During law school, Alison was an Articles Editor for the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. Alison also interned at the United States Department of Justice, Environmental and Natural Resources Division, and at the Colorado Supreme Court for Justice Gregory J. Hobbs. 

Alison is passionate about giving back to her community and always finds time to devote to pro bono matters.
