White House Proposed Budget Impacts Army Corps Work
The Biden administration’s fiscal year 2022 budget proposal focuses the Army Corps of Engineers on advancing environmental justice and tackling climate change. Best Best & Krieger LLP Partner Lowry Crook, who served as a senior leader overseeing the Army Corps under the Obama administration, told E&E News this is an important change for the agency.
"It's the biggest federal funder for protecting against floods and sea-level rise and the impacts of climate change in the federal government," Lowry said of the Army Corps in an article published June 1. "On the climate resilience side, it's a key player in the federal government."
The proposals, Lowry said, will have far-reaching effects at the Army Corps and “significant on-the-ground impacts” for disadvantaged communities.
