
Of Counsel Brian Hughes Presented with 2025 President’s Award By Public Cemetery Alliance
Hughes Honored for His Involvement and Leadership within Organization
Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK) Of Counsel Brian Hughes has been honored by the Public Cemetery Alliance (PCA) with the 2025 President’s Award. PCA President Cindy Summers selected Hughes for the award and personally presented it to him on August 1, 2025, during the Public Cemetery Alliance’s Annual Meeting in Grass Valley, California. According to Summers, Hughes was chosen as the 2025 recipient because of his stellar participation and dedication to the good of the organization.
“Brian stepped in at a time when needed. He is at all our meetings, he presents at all of them. He doesn’t just quote sections of law, he delves into the meaning and how to interpret and apply. He involves us all in his presentations. He truly cares about what we do,” said Summers.
Hughes is a member of BBK’s Special Districts practice group, where he advocates, counsels and assists special districts, public agencies and other municipalities across California. An area of specialty for Hughes is in Public Cemetery Districts, where he serves as general counsel for various districts throughout California. Hughes assists public cemetery districts in daily operational issues, public contracts, public debt financing, district expansions, employment issues, historical burial issues and oversees board meetings. As an active member of the public cemetery district associations in California, he regularly speaks and presents at these conferences.
