Katherine Ullrich
Katherine Ullrich is an associate in Best Best & Krieger’s Business practice. Katherine, based in the Los Angeles office, focuses on a wide range of health care matters.
Katherine primarily represents Medi-Cal managed care plans and other public clients. With a primary focus on compliance, she advises clients on various legal and regulatory issues, including development and review of policies and procedures that comply with Medi-Cal, the Knox-Keene Act, and Medicare requirements, compliance with federal and state fraud, waste, and abuse laws, and compliance with Corporate Integrity Agreements. She also counsels clients on federal and state privacy laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Patient Records (42 CFR Part 2), and the Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA). Additionally, Katherine supports her clients’ efforts in Medi-Cal managed care contracting and has particular experience with CalAIM implementation, Medi-Cal Memoranda of Understanding, and implementation of regulatory requirements in provider contracts.
While in law school, Katherine served on the board of Loyola’s Health Law and Bioethics Association. She also externed at Lanterman Regional Center’s Special Education Law Clinic where she advocated on behalf of students requiring Individualized Education Plans. During her 3L year, Katherine participated in the Loyola Genocide Justice Clinic.
In her free time, Katherine enjoys traveling, trying new coffee shops and hanging out with her goldendoodle, Mo.
