Christi represents public agencies in trial and appellate courts, before state agencies, and in Sacramento as an advocate for home rule.
She serves as city attorney for the cities of Artesia, Lomita, Malibu and Palos Verdes Estates.
Christi’s practice focuses on land use, CEQA, coastal and election law.
Christi Hogin serves as city attorney for the cities of Artesia, Lomita, Malibu and Palos Verdes Estates. She also serves as assistant city attorney to West Hollywood and provides a variety of legal services to other city clients. Prior to joining Best Best & Krieger LLP as of counsel, Christi was a principal at Jenkins & Hogin LLP, which she co-founded in 2001. Christi also worked in-house as a city attorney – giving her a perspective that serves her clients well. Christi values her relationships with her clients, some of which span decades.
Christi’s practice focuses on land use, environmental, constitutional, coastal and election law. She also has an active litigation practice, representing local governments in cases involving the Brown Act, Public Records Act, California Environmental Quality Act, Coastal Act, election challenges and constitutional law. Christi has been lead counsel in dozens of appellate cases, practicing in both the California Court of Appeal and the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Christi is active in the League of California Cities, and leads the Coastal City Attorneys Caucus. She served as an officer of the City Attorneys’ Department and as Department President 2015-2016. Christi edited the Environmental Protection section for the 2010 revisions to the CEB’s “Municipal Law Handbook” and served as the chair of the “Municipal Law Handbook” Editorial Committee for the 2011-2014 editions. She also represented the City Attorneys Department on the League’s Environmental Quality Policy Committee. Christi is a past president of the City Attorneys Association of Los Angeles County.
The Daily Journal twice named Christi among California’s Top 25 Municipal Lawyers and she is regularly recognized as one of Los Angeles' Top Women Lawyers. She was profiled in a special Municipal Law supplement edition of the paper and has been honored as one of the Top Women Lawyers in California. Christi has also been named a Southern California Super Lawyer® by her peers 14 times, including for 2020.
