Partner Michael Riddell Discusses Water Rights on Bloomberg Law Podcast
Roundtable Discussion Includes Litigation, SGMA, Conservation and More
Best Best & Krieger LLP Partner Michael Riddell participated in a recorded roundtable discussion on California water rights, hosted by Bloomberg Law.
Facilitated by Writer/Editor Gordon Schonfeld, Riddell and other water law practitioners discussed lessons from last year’s critical federal court decision in Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians v. Coachella Valley Water District et al. They also talked about other water rights cases, the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and a variety of water issues.
“We need more thinking and funding devoted to conservation measures and new technologies,” Riddell said during a discussion about balancing supply and demand. “With three-quarters of the world covered in water, surely we can find more and less expensive ways to make water drinkable and transport it to places that need it most.”
