Ethics Training for Public Agencies
Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK) is offering an ethics training webinar that satisfies the mandatory training requirements under AB 1234. In addition, certain local public officials — including school officials covered by AB 2158 — must complete this training every two years.
This training provides practical guidance for public officials, officers, and other interested participants. Topics include:
- General public ethics laws and principles
- Laws governing personal financial interests (e.g. Political Reform Act, Government Code section 1090)
- Laws governing personal advantages and perks (e.g. limits on gifts, travel, loans, mass mailings, misuse of public funds)
- Transparency laws (e.g. Brown Act, Public Records Act)
- Fair process (e.g. common law conflict of interest, due process)
Who should attend:
- All public officials, officers and employees who file Statements of Economic Interest (aka Form 700),
- [NEW per AB 2158] All members of school district governing boards, county boards of education, and charter school boards,
- Any person designated by their agency to receive AB 1234 training,
- Any other public agency official or employee interested in learning about public integrity laws and best practices to promote positive public perceptions and avoid legal jeopardy, and
- Public agency in-house, general and special counsel
