Leanza Highlights Importance of Universal Service Fund for Rural Schools and Low-Income Consumers
Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK) Of Counsel Cheryl Leanza was quoted in an article published by BestColleges.com addressing the Federal Communications Commission’s Universal Service Fund tax. A lawsuit that was filed disputing that the tax, calling it unconstitutional.
Leanza offered insight on the lawsuit, advising students and those residing in rural communities not to panic and to stay up to date with this case. Leanza emphasized the importance of the Universal Service Fund in ensuring internet accessibility for all areas of the country, especially rural K-12 schools and low-income consumers. The oral argument for this case is expected in April, 2025, however Leanza notes that there is possibility the Supreme Court dismisses the case as inconsequential, and pushes it back to lower courts.
