This premier event brings together public sector labor and employment professionals from across California for four days of training, collaboration and innovative discussions. BBK’s Labor & Employment attorneys will share their thoughts and insight on key issues facing public employers today, from workplace investigations and free speech rights to managing social media use and resolving workplace conflict.

Partners Alison Alpert and Joseph Sanchez will present three presentations during the four day conference. The first presentation will address how to govern public employee social media use. They will discuss key court decisions and legislation that have impacted how public employers can respond to employee social media misconduct and disclosure of confidential information. The second presentation will highlight strategies for public agencies to implement when in need of defusing workplace conflict, navigate issues of implicit bias and microaggressions, and how to foster a more respectful and inclusive work environment. Alison and Joseph will also present one more presentation during the last day of the conference on evolving case law surrounding public employee speech. They will address disciplinary boundaries, speech in cyberspace, union and policymaker speech, and conduct at public meetings.
