Robert Lomeli
Robert “Rob” Lomeli, of counsel, is a member of Best Best & Krieger LLP’s (BBK) Municipal Law practice group. He has more than 20 years of public sector experience including seven years focused on municipal law, labor and employment and public safety legal matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Rob served as city attorney, assistant city attorney and lead deputy county counsel for multiple California jurisdictions and provided direct legal counsel to governing bodies and executive leadership. He has significant experience in collective bargaining negotiations, Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act (POBR) and Firefighters Procedural Bill of Rights Act (FBOR) compliance, workplace investigations, emergency response coordination, disciplinary proceedings, administrative appeals, and Skelly hearings. Rob has also advised on water issues, including Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) compliance and adjudicated basin operations, as well as Proposition 218 requirements for rates and assessments.
Prior to his legal career, Rob worked in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff in San Luis Obispo and Tulare counties.
Outside of work, Rob enjoys attending his kids’ sporting activities, coaching baseball and playing golf.
