Michael Ervin is an associate in Best Best & Krieger LLP’s (BBK) Municipal Law practice group. He has experience in a wide variety of transactional matters related to municipal government, including land use, constitutional and ethics issues, public contracting, housing and accessory dwelling units (“ADUs”), and policy development. His experience working for local elected officials gives him unique insight to help clients beyond their legal issues.
Michael’s passion for local government began in his undergraduate career, where he spearheaded a partnership with the City of Riverside to bring a student bike-share program to campus. Following graduation, he was selected to be Coro Fellow, a nonpartisan graduate program that cultivates civic leaders in multiple sectors. Before law school, Michael worked for a labor union, a political consulting agency, and served as a political advisor for a Los Angeles County Supervisor on transportation and land use policy.
While attending the University of California, Irvine School of Law, Michael worked as a law clerk for the California Attorney General and for Los Angeles County Counsel.
Outside of his law practice, Michael volunteers with the Special Olympics of Southern California. He is a proud Clippers fan, and enjoys hiking, writing film reviews, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
