Evy Sotelo
Evy Sotelo is an associate and member of Best Best & Krieger LLP’s (BBK) Municipal Law practice group with special focus on housing, economic development and real estate. She supports local government clients in a variety of matters related to affordable housing and federal procurement. Evy assists clients in matters regarding affordable housing finance and funding sources including CDBG, HOME, ARPA, CDBG-DR, TDHCA, and LIHTC credits. Evy also focuses on multi-family permanent supportive housing management agreements, HUD programs, construction contracts, subrecipient agreements, federal funding requirements, and general real estate work involving commercial lending and developing.
Evy also supports BBK attorneys in general counsel roles assisting local governments with interlocal agreements, code enforcement, ESG subrecipient agreements, city ordinances, development agreements, land-use matters, and all ancillary documents. Furthermore, she also helps clients with ordinance drafting, municipal code amendments, and land regulation documents and ordinances. Evy has a deep understanding in public service and municipal law that allows her to understand and assist clients with their legal inquiries.
Before joining BBK, Evy was an Assistant City Attorney at the El Paso City Attorney’s Office, where she served as lead counsel for the departments of Economic Development, Streets & Maintenance, International Bridges, Animal Services, Public Health; and counsel for the departments of Housing and Development, Planning & Inspections, Real Estate, and Purchasing. In addition to her in-house municipal law experience, Evy previously served her community as a Senior Trial Attorney at the El Paso Public Defender’s Office.
Evy has an extensive array of public sector experience and enjoys both the clients and the work she is allowed to perform for them. Evy lives in El Paso, Texas and loves spending time with her loved ones, trying delicious food, and reading a good book.
