Best Best & Krieger is pleased to congratulate former partner Mona Nemat and former associate Jerry Yang, who were appointed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom to judgeships in the Riverside County Superior Court.

Nemat practiced with BBK from 2007-2013 and again in 2022. She was also previously a shareholder at the Law Office of Brissman & Nemat from 2013-2022. Nemat fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Roger A. Luebs.

Yang practiced with BBK from 2005-2008. He most recently served as chief of the Riverside Office at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. Yang fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Lewis Jackson Lucky.

According to the Riverside court’s press release, a California Judicial Needs Assessment found it to be “in dire need of judgeships” to help process growing caseloads. These new appointments “will greatly assist the Court’s goal in continuing to provide access to justice for court litigants.”
