Celebrating Sally Melgarejo, Recipient of BBK’s 2025 Debbie Vivian Award for Excellence

Few things reflect Best Best & Krieger LLP’s (BBK) culture more than the Debbie Vivian Award for Excellence, and this year, that spirit shines through in Legal Practice Assistant Sally Melgarejo, recipient of the 2025 award.
For 35 years, Debbie Vivian was a valued and deeply respected member of BBK’s Finance Department. Known for her generosity, loyalty, kindness, integrity and sense of humor, Debbie left an enduring mark on the firm and all who had the privilege of working with her. In her memory, BBK established the Debbie Vivian Award for Excellenceto recognize members of the firm’s professional support staff who demonstrate those same outstanding qualities and commitment to excellence.
Now in its third year, the Debbie Vivian Award for Excellence continues to honor the legacy of a beloved colleague who embodied the very best of BBK. Sally Melgarejo, is celebrated for her warmth, kindness and willingness to help others, qualities that make colleagues feel immediately welcome and supported. One colleague shared that from their very first day at the firm, Sally’s genuine kindness made them feel right at home. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a friendly smile or going out of her way to assist others, Sally embodies the same generosity and compassion that made Debbie such a beloved member of BBK.
In recognition of Sally’s commitment and contributions, she received a $2,500 award, and her name will be added to a commemorative plaque in the firm’s Indian Wells office. BBK also matched the award with a $2,500 donation to a charity chosen by Debbie’s family.
BBK congratulates Sally for her positive influence on the firm and for carrying forward Debbie Vivian’s enduring legacy of excellence and kindness.
