David H. King
David H. King is a seasoned and respected public sector attorney who practices as of counsel with Best Best & Krieger’s Municipal Law team. David draws on his many years of experience in both private practice and academia to provide municipal clients with big-picture and day-to-day counsel on matters such as the Political Reform Act, the Brown Act, ethics and election law. He has also successfully represented clients in complex litigation and advises on transactional matters.
David serves as deputy city attorney to cities across Southern California, including Downey, Lomita, Malibu, Palos Verdes Estates and West Hollywood. Before joining BB&K, David practiced at Hensley Law Group, Jenkins & Hogin, LLP and Alvarez-Glasman & Colvin, serving as deputy city attorney and assistant city attorney to nearly 10 other California cities.
In addition to his demanding practice, David is an associate clinical professor at his alma mater, Loyola Law School. He teaches on legal research, writing and ethical lawyering.
David previously held roles with the State Bar of California Public Law Section’s Executive Committee and served as an editor of the Public Law Journal. He also served as a chapter editor of The California Municipal Law Handbook, which is edited annually by the League of California Cities City Attorneys’ Department.
