Venus G. Trunnel represents municipal and other public sector clients as prosecution counsel in Best Best & Krieger’s Municipal Law practice group. Her practice includes criminal and civil municipal code enforcement and Health & Safety Code abatement and receiverships. She is also skilled in handling civil litigation matters for public sector clients.
Venus has well-rounded and distinct experience in private practice, federal agency and district court work, and she draws on this experience to provide clients with adept perspective and counsel in every matter. Before joining BB&K, Venus worked as a trademark examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She also practiced at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman and Dicker LLP handling construction defect, employment law and premises liability matters. Before entering private practice, Venus externed with the United States District Court for the Central District of California handling discovery and habeas corpus matters. After graduating from Southwestern Law School, she was invited to serve as a White House legislative liaison for then Vice President Al Gore, Jr.
While earning her law degree at Southwestern Law School, Venus received an International Business Certificate during her summer in London, England at Regent’s College. She was also awarded the Student Bar Association Community Service Award for her contributions to the student body and surrounding community.
Outside of the office, Venus teaches legal research and writing as an adjunct professor, and volunteers for a local organization that helps to feed the homeless population in southern Los Angeles. She enjoys cooking, spending time with her family and traveling.
