BB&K Webinar Jun 18, 2020
Distinguishing Personal and Public Records
BB&K Workshop via Webinar
The California Supreme Court ruled that public agencies need to produce public records stored on public employees’ personal devices and accounts when requested. Public employees, however, are permitted to search for and produce those public records on their own accounts and devices to maintain their privacy rights. This interactive BB&K workshop, via webinar, will help public employees distinguish between personal and public records, focusing on the factors that the Court provided in its City of San Jose v. Superior Court of Santa Clara County 2017 decision. After completing this workshop, public employees will be able to confidently self-collect and produce public records when asked to do so in response to a California Public Records Act request.
