Public agencies sometimes face an unexpected influx of public records requests. These can include multiple requests from an opposing party in a contentious lawsuit or citizens concerned about a hot issue, or addressing a backlog of requests following a widespread crisis, like the State’s recent wildfires or the current COVID-19 pandemic. Whatever the reason, a surge in California Public Records Act requests can be overwhelming to agency staff and budgets. In this webinar, participants will learn best practices for handling a surge when it happens.
