Partner Alison Alpert a San Diego Business Women of the Year Finalist
San Diego Business Journal Recognizes Dynamic Women Business Leaders
The San Diego Business Journal has selected Best Best & Krieger LLP Partner Alison D. Alpert as a 2021 Business Women of the Year finalist. The awards program pays tribute to dynamic women business leaders who have contributed significantly to San Diego’s workplaces and communities.
As a partner in BB&K’s Labor & Employment practice group, Alison is a respected firm leader with more than 20 years of experience counseling public and private employers on compliance with the complexities of state and federal labor and employment laws. She has represented employers across industries in a broad range of employment disputes regarding wage and hour, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation and discrimination. An esteemed litigator, much of Alison’s work happens behind the scenes ensuring high stakes disputes never arise.
Alison has spent the last 18 months helping public agencies and private employers throughout Southern California navigate the COVID-19 pandemic’s shifting tides. From furloughs to layoffs initially, to the evolving issues facing employers as employees returned to the workplace and safety concerns to employees testing positive for COVID-19 and new COVID-19-related laws, Alison has been at the forefront of counseling her clients. She has provided employers with guidance on how to meet their obligations and comply with the various laws at play as their employees take leaves of absence, retirees return to the workforce to help response efforts, and employers negotiate with unions and organizations supporting their members. She’s also authored articles and blogs aimed to inform public and private employers on the various legislative developments.
Alison works closely with numerous public agencies and service providers in San Diego County, including the City of Santee, Helix Water District, Padre Dam Municipal Water District and Sweetwater Authority. She also works with several cities and special districts throughout Orange County.
