BB&K’s Ryan Baron Elected Chair of California Lawyers Association
CLA is the Nation’s Second Largest Voluntary Bar Organization
Best Best & Krieger LLP Partner Ryan Baron has been elected chair of the California Lawyers Association (CLA) Board of Representatives for a one-year term.
The CLA, formerly a function of the State Bar of California, oversees educational, networking, advocacy and philanthropic programs for lawyers in California. The independent nonprofit is the second largest voluntary bar organization in the nation. Baron previously served as the CLA’s vice-chair and treasurer.
In this role, Baron will work with the Chief Executive Officer, the Board and senior staff in continuing to grow CLA as a nationwide leader for bar associations. He will oversee the agendas for the organization, interface with key stakeholders in the legislative and judicial branches, and help set policy for internal operations.
“I am excited to serve the CLA in this new capacity and honored that my peers entrust me to lead,” Baron said. “I enjoy helping to implement projects and initiatives that are important to the legal community and public at large. I ran for this position to further the development of the legal profession by continuing to build the organization as a home for all California lawyers and set an example for other legal organizations across the nation.”
As a partner in BB&K’s Environmental Law & Natural Resources practice, Baron counsels clients throughout California and the U.S. on utilities regulation, administrative law, environmental law and public agency governance matters. His practice spans regulatory, transactional and business issues in the areas of energy, gas, water quality, air quality, wastewater, solid waste and climate change. He also has extensive experience with project development, entitlement and permitting matters, particularly with respect to large-scale infrastructure. In recent years, he has become a go-to authority in the emerging areas of community choice energy and water quality regulation.
