BB&K Promotes Joshua Nelson to Partner

Partnership Also Elects New Member to Firm’s Executive Committee

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Best Best & Krieger LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua Nelson was promoted to partner. In addition, the firm’s Partnership elected Partner Steven DeBaun to its Executive Committee.
Nelson is based in the firm’s Sacramento’s office and is a member of the Municipal Law practice group. He is the city attorney for the cities of Gustine and Jackson. Nelson also provides general counsel services to a number of public agencies, including the North Tahoe Public Utility District and Tahoe Resource Conservation District. His practice also emphasizes telecommunications, solid waste, Proposition 218/26 compliance, general utilities issues and code enforcement issues.
“Josh has proven himself to be a valuable advisor to his clients, who rely on him for his leadership and thoughtful approach to problem solving,” said BB&K Managing Partner Eric Garner. “I join the Partnership in congratulating him for this achievement.”
DeBaun works from BB&K’s Riverside office, where he focuses on public agency law. Named one of the Daily Journal’s Top 50 Development Attorneys of 2014, DeBaun focuses on transportation, infrastructure, regional impact fee programs, land use and planning, municipal, environmental and special district law. He serves as general counsel to a number of public agency clients, including the Riverside County Transportation Commission and the Western Riverside Council of Governments.
“Steve’s long-term commitment to BB&K and his clients shows in his work on the many development projects that have significantly and positively impacted the region. His leadership and collaborative approach will be very valuable on the Executive Committee and to the firm as a whole, and I look forward to working with him,” added Garner.
The five-member Executive Committee is charged with making key business decisions for the firm. Members are elected for two-year terms. Other Executive Committee members are Garner; Labor & Employment Law Partner Stacey N. Sheston, who is in the Sacramento office; Partner Shawn D. Hagerty in San Diego, whose practice focuses on water quality law and Partner Richard Egger, an Ontario-based litigator focusing on business and trust and estate matters, who also serves as the firm’s general counsel.
