The Trump Administration’s Antitrust Challenge to the Proposed AT&T and Warner Merger

UCR School of Public Policy

Best Best & Krieger LLP Partner Kendall MacVey will present "The Trump Administration’s Antitrust Challenge to the Proposed ATT and Warner Merger: A New Era of Trust Busting or a New Era of Hidden Agendas?" at the University of California, Riverside School of Public Policy Seminar Series. The Trump administration’s Antitrust Division has challenged in court AT&T’s proposed $108 billion acquisition of Time Warner and its popular TV programming, claiming it will reduce media competition. Antitrust commentators from the left to the right all agree that this challenge is surprisingly aggressive and radical in scope. Does this represent a new era of challenging big business economic power in America? Or does it represent, as some have suggested, an agenda to keep media critics in line? Ken will give an overview of the case, the issues, the implications, right before the trial is scheduled to start in March.
