Paralegal Peggy Barnes Honored by International Right of Way Association
Two Professional of the Year Recognitions
Best Best & Krieger LLP Paralegal Peggy Barnes was recognized with two honors recently for her work and dedication to the International Right of Way Association. She was named the Professional of the Year for Chapter 57 in the Inland Empire and was a co-recipient of the Professional of the Year award for Region 1, which includes California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii.
A member of BB&K’s Municipal Law practice group, Peggy works primarily on transportation and public works projects with a focus on eminent domain. She has been a Chapter 57 member since 2004 and has held various leadership positions over the years, including two terms as president as well as president-elect, treasurer, secretary and a member of the Legal Issues Committee. She will again serve as Chapter secretary in the 2021-22 term and is an advisor to the Board. In addition, Peggy served on the International Professional Development Committee and the International Electric and Utilities Committee and is as a long-time member, and now chair, of the International Public Agency Committee. Peggy is also member of Chapter 27 in Sacramento.
With a deep history of making contributions to IRWA, Peggy’s honors reflect her work over the past year. She actively and regularly participated in multiple virtual chapter and association meetings and prepared and submitted compulsory reports. Peggy also submitted articles for the chapter newsletter and oversaw the organization and coordination of two successful webinars (FHWA Auditing/Funding and Pre-Condemnation Procedures and Pointers), which she hopes inspired similar efforts by other International committees. Peggy has worked tirelessly in helping the organization recruit new members to the right of way profession and is known to provide support and value to the right of way professionals she serves.
The Region 1 Professional of the Year co-recipient is Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) Principal Right of Way Officer Alesia Strauch, a member of IRWA Chapter 2 in San Francisco/Santa Rosa.
